eTransmittals in QDMS are a means to send documents to recipients, electronically via email.
The eTransmittal process involves the creation of a PDF or HTML version of the standard transmittal. It also includes the zipping up of the actual electronic copies of each document, if these have been attached to the document entries in QDMS. This all happens automatically if the eTransmittal option is chosen, after transmittal generation.
The resulting zip file will contain the documents, the PDF or HTML transmittal, plus an XML version of the transmittal for import into the recipients document management system. The zip file is automatically processed into the outbox of your email client, and sent when you are next on line.
