A controlled document
is a reference document which, through the course of its lifecycle
may be reviewed, modified and distributed several times.
Examples of a controlled document include: technical drawings,
specifications, procedures, data-sheets, contracts, application
forms and plans.
With any engineering and construction project, there is normally a
vast array of controlled documents which require a central
management system for storage and distribution purposes. The
QDMS
system – is one such system used to manage controlled documents.
The
QDMS
system provides a central system where controlled documents are
stored and revised, reviewed and distributed ensuring no
inaccuracies occur during the entire life-cycle of the drawings.
When any controlled document is revised, it supersedes its previous
version. When this occurs,
QDMS
then automatically prompts the user to re-transmit the revised
version to all previous recipients of the this drawing. It is then
important for the recipient to destroy previuous versions and
circulate put the latest version of the controlled document into
circulation.
QA Software recommends
TeamBinder
for web-based document management system software and
QDMS/QTRAK
for LAN and non web-based systems. |
